It's time to ditch brand new luxury shopping
Firstly, what is pre-loved?
Pre-loved is another phrase for terms such as used, pre-owned or second hand and is commonly used in fashion.
You may often ask why should I shop pre-loved and what are the benefits?
Here's why we think shopping pre-loved is the way forward, specifically in the luxury market:
1. Lets save some money
Its no secret that shopping pre-loved can help you save a lotttt of money compared to their inflated retail prices.
Take Balenciaga Track's for example, they now retail at a whopping £825 brand new (yes, you have read that right) and as soon as you walk out the shop after purchasing them, they will have lost over 50% of their value on the resale market, instantly. This isn't an anomaly and is the case with most brands and models, with some rare sought after pairs or collaborations being the outliers.
Not only do you save money when buying pre-loved, you will save money when you move your item on too, generating a much closer sale price to your purchase price in comparison to if you bought brand new.
(Btw, we often sell Balenciaga Track's in excellent condition for around the £300 mark and below so please don't pay £825.)
2. Checking the condition
Yes, there's probably no better feeling than buying those luxury trainers Brand New and Box Fresh straight from the store. However, a few wears later and they are in the same condition as a Pre-Loved purchase which would have cost possibly over half the price. Which, in my opinion, makes it a no brainer to choose the pre-loved market. Especially when you can shop with a company like ourselves, where all pairs are professionally cleaned before being listed for sale and the condition is graded.
3. Circular fashion
Buying and selling pre-loved is a great way to individually contribute to a more sustainable future. By extending the life cycle of an item, you're helping reduce the demand for new production which in turn decreases energy usage, textile waste, resource consumption and frees up room in landfill. Shopping pre-loved also allows you to shop rare, discontinued and vintage items you would no longer have access to on the brand new market.
